Frequently Asked Questions
Generally speaking, we do not service computers older than 10 years unless it is being used by a business and there is a specific business need to keep the system going AND it will not be connected to the internet in any way. We also no longer offer service on consumer devices running anything older than Windows 10 UNLESS the repair also includes an upgrade to Windows 10 or above at the same time. We can migrate data from older OSes to new PCs too. We do not service Linux for consumers.
Please note that we charge a non-refundable diagnostic fee of $55, due when you drop your device off for repair. You will be given credit for the diagnostic fee against the first hour of labor if you opt to repair your device after receiving the diagnosis and estimate. This is due not only to our time and expertise being valuable, but also due to a trend of consumers bringing in devices in for diagnosis and then opting out of even inexpensive repairs, leaving us with no way to recoup the time and money we spent diagnosing the device. We also have dealt with some customers never returning to pick up their broken devices, costing us quite a bit in disposal fees, especially for devices that contain bulging lithium-ion batteries.
